چکیده
Abstract To achieve efficient and reliable control of microscopic systems one should look for driving protocols that mitigate both the average dissipation stochastic fluctuations in work. This is especially important fast regimes which system driven far out equilibrium, potentially creating large amounts unwanted entropy production. Here we characterise these optimal rapidly classical quantum prove they consist two discontinuous jumps full set variables. These can be tuned to interpolate between processes with either minimal or fluctuations, some situations allow simultaneous minimisation. We illustrate our general results closed systems, bit erasure a dissipative Ising chain close phase transition.

Cooling of quantum systems through optimal control and dissipation
Coherent control of quantum dynamics is a powerful tool to drive a system towards desired states and to optimize properties of the dynamics. Mature numerical methods exist for the control of non-dissipative dynamics [1– 5]. Similar approaches to open quantum systems are urgently needed and evolving rapidly [6–8]. However, particular care is needed in this case, for which commonly used equations...

This paper concerns a study on the optimal control for nonlinear systems. An appropriate alternative in order to alleviate the nonlinearity of a system is the exact linearization approach. In this fashion, the nonlinear system has been linearized using input-output feedback linearization (IOFL). Then, by utilizing the well developed optimal control theory of linear systems, the compensated ...
متن کاملOptimal Control for Descriptor Systems: Tracking Problem (RESEARCH NOTE)
Singular systems have been studied extensively during the last two decades due Abstract to their many practical applications. Such systems possess numerous properties not shared by the well-known state variable systems. This paper considers the linear tracking problem for the continuous-time singular systems. The Hamilton-Jacobi theory is used in order to compute the optimal control and associa...
متن کاملOptimal Fluctuations and the Control of Chaos
The energy-optimal migration of a chaotic oscillator from one attractor to another coexisting attractor is investigated via an analogy between the Hamiltonian theory of fluctuations and Hamiltonian formulation of the control problem. We demonstrate both on physical grounds and rigorously that the Wentzel-Freidlin Hamiltonian arising in the analysis of fluctuations is equivalent to Pontryagin’s ...
